Fandee Island

It was in 2017 that a Frenchman set eyes on this forgotten place at the heart of Tad Lo. The forest had reclaimed its rights, the island had almost disappeared from maps — and locals carefully avoided spending the night there. It was said to be inhabited by spirits. For the opening in 2019, everything started simply: a few accommodations perched in the trees, others nestled by the water's edge. Then came the zip lines, the tree climbing, the unusual lodgings… and with them, the travellers. The nights changed their face. Fear gave way to light, voices, life. The spirits, if they were ever there, have learned to coexist. During the digging of the lake, workers uncovered a two-metre-high bomb, buried since the years of war. Not knowing what to do with it, the authorities buried it more than two metres deep and covered it with rocks. It is said to still be there, somewhere beneath your feet.
