At the top of this hill rests a legend. According to tradition, seven giants once founded this territory — seven village chiefs, the San: Sanwang, Santue, Sanlue, Sankaew, Sanphet, Santuen and Sankham. Men, it is said, who stood nearly four metres tall. Giants or ancestors? The question remains open. But their presence is very real. Their bones still rest here, preserved in wooden coffins, in a cave at Wat Phusankham, in the village of Ban Sanwang Noi (4 km from here). No museum, no display case — just wooden planks and the silence of a temple. These seven names still shape the identity of this place today. They are in the stone, in the memory of the elders, in the air you are breathing right now. Look around you — you are standing on their land.
